During our recent holiday to Lanzarote I was quite interested in local skincare range and was happy to find some lovely lavender products. I just like lavender, ok?! 🙂 After my own experiments with making soaps of goat’s milk soap base, I’m excited to try this one made on the neighbouring island of Fuerteventura: Continue reading “Beauty products in Lanzarote “

Lucius the Cat
Meet our cat! We’ve had Lucius since Easter and here are some wonderful portraits of him from the first week with us:
Homemade soaps
Last week I set up a “soap factory” in our kitchen ;). Under the watchful eye of our kitten I mixed some goat’s milk soap base with purple colouring and essential oils. A recipe I had found on Dr. Axe. Very easy to make and the soaps are free of harmful chemicals!
The mix gets poured into the moulds:

The coldest Easter in years…
Thanks to Facebook telling me what I’ve been up to x years ago this day, throughout March I’ve been seeing old posts and photos about warmth and sun. So, a quick recap since 2012. Maybe not the most attractive photo of me but that’s the only one illustrating our first picnic of the year on 24th March.

Kew Gardens – the gem of the Borough of Richmond
Last year in August during a visit to Kew Gardens we decided to become friends of Kew and got an annual membership. So far we’ve definitely got some value out of it, we can also bring in one guest each for free.
Below is a gallery with photos from our December and March visits, both were grey and dull days but there is always something to see, be it fake or real flowers and plants! 🙂 It’s a great day out, so quiet you could easily imagine you are in the gardens of a stately home in the middle of the countryside. L’Occitane Verbena Range
Verbena
Among all the aromatic herbs that grow along the paths of Provence, there is one whose lemony freshness revives the body and mind. Its name is Verbena.
When baskets are piled high with freshly harvested green verbena leaves, its distinctive fragrance fills the air around the markets of Provence.
Alice in Wonderland
I had this most wonderful coincidence with my dad recently. One day I was browsing books at random in Waterstones Piccadilly and stumbled upon an Alice in Wonderland and Humpty Dumpty notebook, thinking that this would be a really funny present for my dad. No occasion, just a sweet surprise and a very appropriate one as he used to read the books to us when we were kids. He even drew a Humpty Dumpty for me once, I surely must have the drawing somewhere in my parents’ home… Continue reading “Alice in Wonderland”
Kung Hei Fat Choi
Yesterday was the start of the year of the Monkey that runs from 8th February 2016 until 27th January 2017, and this year, people who are born under the sign of the rabbit, snake, ox, rooster and rat will have the best luck out of all of the animal signs. If you believe in astrology, that is. My stance is, I choose to believe what I want. Apparently not the best year for Dogs (I’m one) but I’ll pick out the positives ;).
It has become our tradition to go to the London’s Chinese New Year celebrations – the largest outside Asia! This year, it’s on 14th February (I suppose this is how we’ll be celebrating Valentine’s too) and take place in Trafalgar Square, Chinatown and across the West End from 10am to 6pm.

Come along, Londoners!
January – a month of wellness
As I wrote in New Year’s resolutions?, I don’t do them. So I didn’t do a dry January, start a fad diet or make any other promises that I knew I wasn’t able to keep up with. Instead, I turned January into a wellness month and tried starting to look after my mind, body and spirit better. I also followed almost all of these little tips by mindbodygreen to make my life a little bit happier. I’m a bit more concerned about my stress levels and negative thoughts so I want to make sure I look after myself better. Continue reading “January – a month of wellness”
My first visit to Dubai

2015 was a quiet year on the travel front. Well, at least for me. My husband continued hopping on planes and visiting places like Manama, Marrakesh, Lisbon, Hong Kong, Bucharest, Amsterdam, Davos, Dusseldorf, Paris, Porto, Berlin… But all for work.
Last year we decided to have less extravagant holidays, like honeymooning in South Africa in 2014, and planned a staycation in the UK and just a few weekends away, like Paris, to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary, and Tallinn, to celebrate my mum’s 60th (read the rest of my travel posts from here). But by November we desperately wanted some sun and heat as the British summer didn’t prove to be the warmest or the sunniest and Dubai seemed like a reasonable destination as it’s not as hot at that time of the year (gets up to 50 degrees during our summer months!) with sunny weather also guaranteed. My husband has been to Dubai on a number of occasions but always for work so this was the first time for me and first time holidaying there for him! Continue reading “My first visit to Dubai”
