Top 10 favourite things to do in London with my daughter

Our daughter spent her first two years in London and she won’t have any memory of it but at least she will have plethora of photos and videos to enjoy when she’s older. After just having moved from London to Tallinn I’ve already begun reminiscing about my time spent with her there and I thought I’d make a list of things we liked to do or places to go.

Water wobbles – tips to help toddlers with water anxiety

We’ve been swimming with Water Babies since she was 11 weeks old and it’s been one of the baby/toddler activities that I used to look forward to the most. Used to… When she turned one she completely changed in the water – she is clingy, going underwater scares her, pretty much everything that we were able to do previously, she has a problem with. She still loves bath time so it didn’t make any sense until our instructor explained the water wobbles.  Continue reading “Water wobbles – tips to help toddlers with water anxiety”

Stone Free Festival

Something you probably didn’t know about me – I like rock music. More specifically, prog rock, and that’s definitely not everyone’s cup of tea ;). I’ve got my dad to either thank or blame for it as I grew up with him listening to Yes, Pink Floyd, Genesis, Jethro Tull, Emerson, Lake and Palmer, and other obvious rock legends such as Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple just to name a few. My earliest memory is watching Yes music videos and being mesmerised by the piano virtuoso Rick Wakeman and his unreal handling of multiple keyboards. The coldest Easter in years…

Thanks to Facebook telling me what I’ve been up to x years ago this day, throughout March I’ve been seeing old posts and photos about warmth and sun. So, a quick recap since 2012. Maybe not the most attractive photo of me but that’s the only one illustrating our first picnic of the year on 24th March.

Enjoying a picnic in our garden and catching some sun. I had a tan over Easter!

Kew Gardens – the gem of the Borough of Richmond

Last year in August during a visit to Kew Gardens we decided to become friends of Kew and got an annual membership. So far we’ve definitely got some value out of it, we can also bring in one guest each for free.

Below is a gallery with photos from our December and March visits, both were grey and dull days but there is always something to see, be it fake or real flowers and plants! 🙂 It’s a great day out, so quiet you could easily imagine you are in the gardens of a stately home in the middle of the countryside. A little pre-Christmas hell

Sunday was the first advent and we put up some fairy lights, laid out candles everywhere, bought myself a chocolate calendar but didn’t buy a tree. We bought one last year and thought it would survive but finally, in the summer, after watering it meticulously for months and months we admitted that it had given up on us. But for some stupid reason we didn’t get rid of it. So this little fir tree looking oddly green but obviously very dry is still in our living room. It will be thrown out in January with the rest of the trees bought in 2015 ;).

So, as I started… it was the first advent and we thought of adding a bit of early Christmas spirit to our Sunday by going to Hampstead Christmas Festival. The weather was miserably windy and grey and we thought walking around in Hampstead, sipping mulled wine and eating bratwurst would cheer us up (more me, I hate windy weather). “Me” time

I used to lead a quiet lifestyle back in Ireland (Killarney is a very small town and there isn’t much to do there anyway!) and after almost four years in London, I’m still not quite used to the constant noise that surrounds me. I didn’t think I would say that but sometimes (only sometimes! I did leave for a good reason) I really miss the Irish countryside: to be able to walk to work (but then I got a car and sometimes drove the 1K distance instead 🙂 ); run for half an hour and end up in massive Killarney National Park; or hop into my car and drive to some of the most magnificent beaches I’ve ever seen in my life, Inch and Rossbeigh, both only a 40-minute drive away… Life was rather peaceful….
