Skin3 4th birthday

Last Thursday I was invited to Skin3 salon’s 4th birthday. I’ve been a regular there for over a year and I was delighted to be invited to celebrate with the staff and other customers. The prosecco was flowing and the canapés served were mouthwatering. I brought along a friend who is a fellow Environ products convert and were extremely delighted with the gift bag containing: Continue reading “Skin3 4th birthday”

e.l.f. Makeup & Cosmetics is back!

I got an email from e.l.f. (stands from eyes, lips and face) announcing they’re back in the UK market and encouraging you to get back to your regularly scheduled beauty fix today! 😉

I ordered some of their products last summer but then at some point I noticed nothing was on sale on their website and I’m not sure what had happened. But hey, now they’re back and I cannot wait to browse.

Their range consists of more than 1000 different products including glosses, bronzers, eyeshadow pallettes, brushes, blushes, mineral makeup and much, much more. And the best bit of all?… prices start from just £1.95!

Who else is excited? Continue reading “e.l.f. Makeup & Cosmetics is back!”

Review – My Little Box

Since March I’ve been a receiver of beauty surprises that My Little Box delivers on a monthly basis. At that time I was new to the monthly beauty box idea and didn’t realise there were so many out there, the main ones that pop to my head are Birchbox and Glossybox but there are so many more out there that it’s getting harder to pick your favourite. I bet there are tons of women out there subscribing to more than just one.

So, for some reason I selected My Little Box. Maybe it was the beautifully designed website featuring illustrations by Japanese artist Kanako Kuno, or maybe it was the elegant Parisian feel to the whole presentation of their product offering that appealed to me. Whoever is behind their marketing, I’m in awe, after all, I’m such a sucker for all things charming and pretty. I wish I could even draw like the aforementioned artist! Embracing the 70s

This summer (what? did we actually have summer this year? 🙂 ) I went to a friend’s 40th birthday celebration that had a 70s theme. It was highly entertaining to see so many guests truly embracing it and turning up in afros, bohemian florals, hot pants, bell-bottom trousers… We were a colourful noisy crowd!

I had a total last-minute wardrobe change. I was planning to wear a relatively simple jumpsuit that to me looked 70s enough but earlier that day I just mentioned in passing that I’ll be going to this theme party and a friend of mine said she had a genuine custom-made dress that her mum had made in the 70s! Success! So this is what I wore: first from the left:

Supermoon

Here’s my story and my husband’s creation:

Marc’s alarm came on at 1am and 3am to capture the different moon phases. I was half asleep and told him I’d watch the photos next morning. Then I got out of my slumber and dragged myself out of bed, saying : “Damn, I’ve got to see it myself!!” So we sat in awe in our living room in the middle of the night and admired this blood moon. Eventually walked hand-in-hand back to bed ❤️.

Wine tasting at The Langham

Even though I’m not EHL (Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne, hotel school in Switzerland) Alumni, I get ‘dragged’ to their events by my husband. They have monthly meet-ups and other events related to hospitality industry (not always) – visiting new hotels, bars, restaurants, celebrating Swiss national day, EHL birthday etc.

Yesterday I had the pleasure to join them for wine tasting hosted by The Bolney Estate at The Langham. The host, Jennifer Yates, was an absolute pleasure to listen to and her enthusiasm for English (sparkling) wines came across vividly. We sampled the following: Continue reading “Wine tasting at The Langham”

A weekend full of sun and rugby

Last days of summer… Thankfully the sun has been out and today we even enjoyed a balmy 19 degrees.

The weekend has been full of rugby and yesterday I went to my first ever rugby game in Twickenham, France v Italy. A stadium full of rowdy but jolly rugby fans – a great experience. Although my husband supports England and I secretly Ireland, that evening we were all about ‘Allez les bleus’! 🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷 It was a confident win over Italy.

Review – YSL Beauté

I’ve got enlarged pores and it’s near impossible to shrink them but apparently this product promises to change the way they look. By applying this transparent gel primer to areas more prone to oiliness and where the pores are more noticeable, it illuminates the planes of your face.

It’s Touche Éclat blur primer by Yves Saint Laurent in a beautiful luxurious golden packaging: Continue reading “Review – YSL Beauté”

My favourite nail varnishes this summer were…

September’s shadows
Fall faster and faster now
As summer absconds

C. Richard Miles

We switched on heating last night, which means summer is pretty much over. There might be a spike of temperatures next week but I’ve dug out my boots and put away my flip flops.

I was re-ordering my nail varnish box (I use My Little Boxes for storage 😉 ) and wanted to highlight my five favourites this summer: Continue reading “My favourite nail varnishes this summer were…”

Family weekend in Tallinn

Since 2004 when I left Estonia to live in Ireland I’ve visited my home country once or max twice a year but this year I’m just back from a record third time! In January I celebrated a late Christmas, in March I attended a movie premier – “Vehkleja” (“The Fencer“) that’s loosely based on my grandfather Endel Nelis and now, in August, I had the honour of celebrating my mum’s 60th jubilee with our closest family members.
