What?! might be your reaction to this but let me explain. While we lived in London, away from our families, our support network consisted of close friends and a babysitter who we occasionally used when we wanted to head out for a dinner just the two of us. And that didn’t happen very often at all, she was more of a back-up when I had some work commitments and neither of us was able to be with her during the day. So, naturally, she came with us everywhere we went and travelled and it never occurred to us that we could have left her home with our nanny for a night or two if we felt the need to escape. Maybe we just didn’t need an escape… š

Body positivity – believe in your body!
There’s actually a whole other reason why I shared this post on Instagram yesterday.
“Since having my daughter Iāve remained a bit heavier than in my pre-pregnancy days and Iāve been moaning about it for years because I absolutely didnāt want to buy a whole new wardrobe. By some miracle Iāve lost about 2kg since moving to Estonia and finally, this summer, I started to celebrate my body more again. Fine, Iām not as athletic as before and Iām now softer and curvier. But my belly is the softest pillow for my daughter when she cuddles up š š§ø. My goal is to lose a few more but Iām in no rush and what comes off slower stays off longer!
And before anyone slams me for wanting to lose only a few kilos āš¼ itās my body and only I know when Iām happiest in my skin! Hereās toĀ #mumbods, theyāre all amazing!”
Mum guilt – I don’t do enough!
As a stay at home mum to a toddler who doesn’t go to a nursery yet (she’s going to be two years old very soon) I feel I have more pressure on making sure she gets enough stimulation via play time and interaction with peers. Continue reading “Mum guilt – I don’t do enough!”
Coping with motherhood without much support
In my recent Instagram post I wrote about how I hadĀ to get on without much support being a new mum when our daughter was born. My husband travels for work a lot and we donāt have any family here.

Making mum friends isn’t easy
Making mum friends can be tough because the only thing you might have in common are kids of similar age and all you talk about is your babies but maybe that’s all you need for a while? Continue reading “Making mum friends isn’t easy”
What baby things I regret buying and what were useful
Decluttering seems to be the trend in 2019, with Tidying up with Marie Kondo gaining vast popularity on Netflix and “everyone’s” Insta or Facebook feeds claiming to tackle their homes to become clutter-free and more organised. I’m not jumping on the bandwagon here because I’ve never liked clutter in the first place and am pretty good at doing regular spring cleans to get rid of old items, be it clothes, books or just piles of paperwork that’s no longer needed. However, it did make me think how many things we’ve bought since our daughter was born and how obsessed I’ve become trying to keep our living tidy because her stuff seems to be everywhere! Wonder Weeks leap 9 and illnesses
The months of October and November brought me to my knees… š„ . It started in mid-October with our daughter’s sniffles and I thought she was ok to go swimming but sure enough, the next day she looked and felt much worse. The following day she didn’t look well at all and was just clinging on to me so I got a last minute doctor’s appointment. I was astonished when she announced our little girl had tonsillitis! That was the last thing I thought she could have. Continue reading “Wonder Weeks leap 9 and illnesses”
Baby sleep app and anxiety
When our girl was born I found a very useful app to track the feeding and napping times. I fed on demand but still wanted to see how long had been since the last time and in terms of sleep it helped me to get an idea if she’s getting the recommended amount in total for her age group.Ā Continue reading “Baby sleep app and anxiety”
Our struggle with tonsillitis
She’s only 13 months old and already suffering from tonsillitis! She had a cold more than a week ago but was feeling and looking well last week on Wednesday when I took her swimming. Massive mum guilt here because the next day she looked and felt miserable. Very clingy, wanted to be held and cuddled all the awake times. It reminded me of the newborn days when I found it hard to put her down as she’d start crying soon after.Ā Continue reading “Our struggle with tonsillitis”
