A much-needed relaxing break in Cumbria

There’s been a complete radio silence on my blog (last published post was on 20th October) and I started feeling guilty. You know, life happened, always busy at work and lazy in the evenings for any creative writing. Besides, I felt like I didn’t have anything to share with the public blogosphere.

So, about a month ago I was happy to enjoy a lovely quiet countryside weekend in Cumbria. Our kind host drove us around to enjoy the magnificent scenery of the Lake District, pub lunches and cheap drinks (£10 got us three pints). We didn’t have time to climb the mountains or fells as they call them there, although we tried to dress as properly as we could for our walks – walking boots, wellies and all.  Cotswold Lavender

About a month ago I shared my lavender obsession and this got satisfied during our holiday in the UK (separate posts about this to follow when I have more time…) when visiting Cotswold Lavender in Snowshill near Broadway. I looked it up last year but unfortunately didn’t have enough time to go there after our wedding in the Cotswolds. “Me” time

I used to lead a quiet lifestyle back in Ireland (Killarney is a very small town and there isn’t much to do there anyway!) and after almost four years in London, I’m still not quite used to the constant noise that surrounds me. I didn’t think I would say that but sometimes (only sometimes! I did leave for a good reason) I really miss the Irish countryside: to be able to walk to work (but then I got a car and sometimes drove the 1K distance instead 🙂 ); run for half an hour and end up in massive Killarney National Park; or hop into my car and drive to some of the most magnificent beaches I’ve ever seen in my life, Inch and Rossbeigh, both only a 40-minute drive away… Life was rather peaceful….
