Decluttering seems to be the trend in 2019, with Tidying up with Marie Kondo gaining vast popularity on Netflix and “everyone’s” Insta or Facebook feeds claiming to tackle their homes to become clutter-free and more organised. I’m not jumping on the bandwagon here because I’ve never liked clutter in the first place and am pretty good at doing regular spring cleans to get rid of old items, be it clothes, books or just piles of paperwork that’s no longer needed. However, it did make me think how many things we’ve bought since our daughter was born and how obsessed I’ve become trying to keep our living tidy because her stuff seems to be everywhere! Our struggle with tonsillitis
She’s only 13 months old and already suffering from tonsillitis! She had a cold more than a week ago but was feeling and looking well last week on Wednesday when I took her swimming. Massive mum guilt here because the next day she looked and felt miserable. Very clingy, wanted to be held and cuddled all the awake times. It reminded me of the newborn days when I found it hard to put her down as she’d start crying soon after. Continue reading “Our struggle with tonsillitis”
Water wobbles – tips to help toddlers with water anxiety
We’ve been swimming with Water Babies since she was 11 weeks old and it’s been one of the baby/toddler activities that I used to look forward to the most. Used to… When she turned one she completely changed in the water – she is clingy, going underwater scares her, pretty much everything that we were able to do previously, she has a problem with. She still loves bath time so it didn’t make any sense until our instructor explained the water wobbles. Continue reading “Water wobbles – tips to help toddlers with water anxiety”
Where did the year go?
I’m posting this a day before our little girl’s first birthday and I’m sat here going through the birth in my head again. The first months of her life are a blur but her birth is so fresh in my mind like it happened yesterday. It wasn’t traumatic, it was a water birth, no drugs. Just gas and air and me breathing like Darth Vader. Continue reading “Where did the year go?”
World Breastfeeding Week
As the World Breastfeeding Week is ending, I thought of writing up my own story on this journey and a journey it has been.
The aim of this week is to raise awareness of the links between good nutrition and increase breastfeeding rates worldwide by supporting mothers to take up on it and also continue breastfeeding for at least the first six month of the baby’s life.
Another one on sleep 😴 💤
And the lack of it… Once you get used to better sleep and they start waking up frequently again…
I’m posting this when she’s already 5 months old but the messy month of January just didn’t allow me to relax, sit down and finish this blog post… ☹️. Continue reading “Another one on sleep 😴 💤”
Baby cinema
I finally decided to try out the Baby Club at Everyman, Maida Vale and went to see Molly’s Game this week. I was a bit hesitant as wasn’t sure whether she’d let me enjoy any of it but I’m so glad I gave it a go! The Baby Club in Maida Vale’s cinema is on Wednesdays and I’ll definitely go again soon. Sleeeeeeeep
Are all mums obsessed with their babies’/kids’ sleep? That’s the only way I can describe it for myself – obsession. Continue reading “Sleeeeeeeep”
John Lewis’s nursery consultation
This Monday I went to a free two-hour consultation with one of John Lewis’s nursery advisors on Oxford Street. They are trained as sales staff (as they should be) and can recommend a long list of things that you may not actually need in the end but I found it really useful and only took a few things with a pinch of salt.
