John Lewis’s nursery consultation

This Monday I went to a free two-hour consultation with one of John Lewis’s nursery advisors on Oxford Street. They are trained as sales staff (as they should be) and can recommend a long list of things that you may not actually need in the end but I found it really useful and only took a few things with a pinch of salt.

She walked me around the key items we would need, so I got to try out different prams, how to fold them and put them back together, understand how car seats work, what kind of breast pumps are available, would we need Moses basket and so on. She was so thorough and I must admit, there were things I hadn’t even thought of yet! I almost felt guilty that I didn’t know about layering, swaddling or whether I knew if we wanted to start using soothers. YES, if she doesn’t stop crying?!?! but how will I know that now?

Nevertheless, the gift registry will be a great guideline and a somewhat useful shopping list. I have to bring my hubby back into the store as he wasn’t able to join me, so we could test drive some prams and make a decision very soon.

One thing I’m not decided on, to get a manual or an electric breast pump… Do any of my readers have more sound advice that might help me decide on this purchase?
