A much-needed relaxing break in Cumbria

There’s been a complete radio silence on my blog (last published post was on 20th October) and I started feeling guilty. You know, life happened, always busy at work and lazy in the evenings for any creative writing. Besides, I felt like I didn’t have anything to share with the public blogosphere.

So, about a month ago I was happy to enjoy a lovely quiet countryside weekend in Cumbria. Our kind host drove us around to enjoy the magnificent scenery of the Lake District, pub lunches and cheap drinks (£10 got us three pints). We didn’t have time to climb the mountains or fells as they call them there, although we tried to dress as properly as we could for our walks – walking boots, wellies and all.

A trick question! How many lakes are there in the Lake District? Scroll down for the answer ;).

As ever, our personal photographer was ready to capture the changing autumn foliage that didn’t fail to surprise or delight us – vibrant reds, orange, bright yellow and calming green leaves surrounded us everywhere. Below is a sneak peek to some of his lovely photos and the rest can be viewed from here: Marc Mordant Photography | Voyages | Cumbria.

Answer: only one – Bassenthwaite Lake. All the others are called waters, meres and tarns.

What did my lovely readers get up to during the Halloween weekend? Have you ever been the Cumbria before?
